Buy a Book, Give a Book

At Padh le dost, we are driven by a simple yet powerful belief that opportunity should never be restricted by one’s circumstances. Yet, millions in India and beyond face systemic barriers, particularly in industries like technology where access to education and career guidance is often the key determinant of success.
Our Mission for 2030
Our mission is to dismantle these barriers by offering resources that make education and career success more inclusive and accessible for everyone. By 2030, we envision a future where talent, ambition, and hard work, not socio-economic status or geographic location, define one’s opportunities.
Our Vision for 2030
Our long-term mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of background or location, has access to the informative and career resources they need to thrive. By 2030, we aim to –

Expand access to career resources for 1 million learners in underserved communities.

Empower 1 million women to pursue careers in tech, closing the gender gap.

Distribute 5 million free eBooks through our "Buy a Book, Give a Book" initiative.

Expanding Access to Education in Under-served Communities
The challenge is stark: in India, only 27% of young people receive career guidance and the lack of access to quality education and career planning is even more severe in rural or low-income areas. These communities often lack the resources needed to help young people navigate their career choices.
Padh Le Dost’s Role: We are committed to transforming this reality by working closely with NGOs, local governments, and other institutions to distribute our eBooks and resources to under-served communities. Our mission is to empower learners with the tools they need to plan their career paths, acquire essential skills, and seize opportunities they might not have previously considered.

Promoting Gender Equality in Tech
The gender gap in India’s technology sector is both significant and persistent. Women make up only 26% of the workforce in engineering and technology roles. This disparity is driven by barriers like limited access to education, mentorship, and role models, which disproportionately affect women, despite their potential.
Padh Le Dost’s Role: We are committed to closing the gender gap in tech by providing targeted resources for women. The organizations we wish to partner with in the near future will focus on gender equality that will enable us to offer mentorship, career guidance, and confidence-building resources that equip women to pursue careers in tech and step into leadership roles.

Understanding the Figures

Increased Access to Career Guidance

Current Situation: Only 27% of young people in India receive career guidance, and over 70% of students in rural areas lack access to proper counseling.

By 2030: With Padh Le Dost’s intervention, we aim to reach 1 million learners in underserved communities, ensuring that 90% of students in remote regions have digital access to career resources. This could reduce underemployment from the current 48.1% to 25-30% by offering better career alignment with educational qualifications.

Closing the Gender Gap in Tech

Current Situation: Women constitute only 26% of the workforce in technology fields, and only 2% of young women receive career counseling in tech.

By 2030: Padh Le Dost aims to empower 500,000 women to pursue careers in tech by offering targeted career guidance and resources. This could help increase female participation in the tech workforce to 45-50% among learners in our program.

Rural Education Access

Current Situation: Nearly 80% of students in rural areas have never received career-related educational resources.

By 2030: Padh Le Dost will distribute 5 million free eBooks to learners in rural and under-served communities. This initiative could increase higher education enrollment in these areas from its current low base to 35-40%, thus closing the urban-rural gap in educational attainment.
